Make by forging: P. and V. χαλκεύειν, Ar and V. ἐπιχαλκεύειν (Aesch., Frag.). Forge iron: V. μυδροκτυπεῖν (absol). Forging iron: use adj. V. μυδροκτύπος. Counterfeit: P. and V. πλάσσει (or mid ), P. συμπλάσσειν, παραποιεῖσθαι, κατασκευάζειν, συσκευάζειν. Contrive: see contrive. Forge (money): Ar. and P. κιβδηλεύειν. v. intrans. Forge ahead: P. and V. προβαίνειν, P. προέρχεσθαι. subs. P. χαλκεῖον, τό. The natives think that Hephaestus has his forge in Hiera: P. νομίζουσιν οἱ ἐκείνῃ ἄνθρωποι ἐν τῇ ερᾷ ὡς ὁ φαιστος χαλκεύει (Thuc. 3, 88).
