ῆς, ἡ, contr. for φακέα, a form found in Epich.33, ridiculed by Euphro 3:—
A dish of lentils (φακοί), lentil-soup, Ar.Eq.1007, V.811, al., Diocl.Fr.141, PHib.1.112.77 (iii B. C.), etc.; in parodies of Trag.Adesp.89,92 ap.Ath.4.156f: prov. τοὐπὶ τῇ φ. μύρον 'pearls before swine', Sopat.14, Clearch.53, Cic.Att.1.19.2; title of Menippean satire by Varro; ὅταν φακῆν ἕψητε μὴ 'πιχεῖν μύρον Stratt.45.
