v. trans.
Ransom: P. λύεσθαι. Deliver: P. and V. λύειν, ἀπολύειν, ἀφιέναι, ἐκλύειν, ἀπαλλάσσειν; see deliver. Redeem (a promise): use accomplish. The promise was redeemed: P. ἡ ὑπόσχεσις ἀπέβη (Thuc. 4, 39). Make up for: P. and V. ἀκεῖσθαι (acc.), ἀναλαμβάνειν (acc.). Redeem (something in pawn): P. λύεσθαι. Redeem a pledge in pawn: P. ἐνέχυρον κομίζεσθαι.
