   A an alternating wind, esp. one which blows back from sea to land, opp. ἀπογεία, Arist.Pr.940b22, 945a6, Thphr. Vent.31,53; tropaei (venti), Plin.HN2.114; τ. is said to have meant ἡ ἐναντία πνοή in S.Fr.1103 (where τριπαία, τρίπαια, τριπαῖα codd.).    II metaph., λήματος, φρενὸς τροπαία, a change in the spirit of one's heart or mind, A.Th.706, Ag.219 (both lyr.); but τ. κακῶν a change from, release from... Id.Ch.775.
