A turn into potsherds, dash to pieces:—Pass., to be dashed in pieces, A.Fr.180.4. II make the skin hard like shell, ὀ. τὸ δέρμα Arist.Pr.869b25:—Pass., become covered with a hard shell, Lyc.89; so of bread baked to a crust, Gal.14.50.
