χλανίσι δὲ δὴ φαναῖσι περιπεπεµµένοι καὶ µαστίχην τρώγοντες, ὄζοντες µύρου. τὸ δ’ ὅλον οὐκ ἐπίσταµαι ἐγὼ ψιθυρίζειν, οὐδὲ κατακεκλασµένος πλάγιον ποιήσας τὸν τράχηλον περιπατεῖν, ὥσπερ ἑτέρους ὁρῶ κιναίδους ἐνθάδε πολλοὺς ἐν ἄστει καὶ πεπιττοκοπηµένους → Dressed up in bright clean fine cloaks and nibbling pine-thistle, smelling of myrrh. Philostratus or Lucius Flavius Philostratus (/fɪˈlɒstrətəs/; Greek: Φλάβιος Φιλόστρατος; c. 170 – 247/250 AD), called "the Athenian", was a Greek sophist of the Roman imperial period. His father was a minor sophist of the same name. He was born probably around 170, and is said by the Suda to have been living in the reign of emperor Philip the Arab (244–249). His death possibly occurred in Tyre c. 250 AD.
