A., ja beim Zeus, immer bejahend od. bestätigend; νὴ τὴν Ἥραν, Phaedr. 230 a Theaet. 154 d; νὴ τοὺς θεούς, Prot. 310 b Gorg. 481 c; νὴ τὸν ἡμέτερον θεὸν – τὸν Ἄμμωνα, Polit. 257 b; auch νὴ τὸν κύνα, Rep. III, 399 e. So bei den Komikern u. Oratt. oft durch »wahrhaftig«, »ja doch« u. dgl. zu übersetzen; auch beim imperat., νὴ Δία πιθοῦ, Ar. Ach. 661; u. ἀλλὰ νὴ Δία, einen Einwurf beantwortend, Xen. Mem. 1, 2, 9; auch zuweilen ironisch gebraucht, Dem. 18, 101, u. bei Sp. dem lat. si diis placet entsprechend.
