English (LSJ)

[ῠ], ον,

A headstrong, or perh. foolish, ὥς μ' ἀσύφηλον ἐν Ἀργείοισιν ἔρεξεν ὡς εἴ τιν' ἀτίμητον μετανάστην Il.9.647; οὔ πω σεῦ ἄκουσα κακὸν ἔπος οὐδ' ἀσύφηλον 24.767, cf. Q.S.9.521: also in late Prose, as Eun.VSp.481B. Adv.-λως foolishly, Dius ap.Stob.4.21.16.

German (Pape)

[Seite 381] Hom. zweimal, Iliad. 9, 647 ὥς μ' ἀσύφηλον ἐν Ἀργείοισιν ἔρεξεν Ἀτρείδης ὡς εἴ τιν' ἀτίμητον μετανάστην, 24, 767 ἀλλ' οὔ πω σεῦ ἄκουσα κακὸν ἔπος οὐδ' ἀσύφηλον; der Sinn scheint also »verächtlich« zu sein; abzuleiten vielleicht von σοφός, Aeolisch, also eigentlich »unweise«, »thöricht«. Auch Sp.: λόγος οὐκ ἀσυφάλως μυθεύμενος Dius bei Stob. Flor. 65, 16; Qu. Sm., neben χαλεπός, 9, 521. Bei Phryn. B. A. p. 14 ὕβρις erkl. ἡ μετὰ ἀμαθίας καὶ ἀτιμίας.
