Od.14.69.    II with the knees forward, π. καθεζομένη, i.e. kneeling or crouching, Il.9.570 (where Πρόγνυ shd. perh. be restd., cf. γνύπετος, Skt. [Seite 799] (πρὸγόνυ), adv., wie γνύξ, knielings, auf den Knieen, in die Kniee; πρόχνυ καθεζομένη, Il. 9, 570, auf den Knieen sitzend, d. i. in die Kniee sinkend, niederknieend; u. weil das in die Kniee Sinken ein Zeichen der Erschöpfung ist, übtr., ὥς κε Τρῶες ὑπερφίαλοι ἀπόλωνται πρόχνυ κακῶς σὺν παισὶ καὶ ἀλόχοισιν, 21, 460, wie Od. 14, 69, ὡς ὤφελλ' Ἑλένης ἀπὸ φῦλον ὀλέσθαι πρόχνυ, darnieder sinkend od. in den Staub stürzend umkommen; vgl. ἐπεὶ πολλῶν ὑπὸ γούνατ' ἔλυσεν, was Od. 14, 69 darauf folgt.
