A = καλάμινος, reed-like, στύραξ Alex.Trall.5.4, al., Aët.1.133. II ὁ κ. ἥρως, perh. the hero of the probe or, of the splints, nickname of Aristomachus, a surgeon who had a statue at Athens, called ὁ ἥρως ὁ ἰατρός, D.18.129, cf. 19.249.
