   A side-growth,    1 in plants, sucker, off shoot, opp. παρασπάς, Thphr.HP2.2.4, cf. 1Enoch 26.1 : metaph., παραφυάδι ἔοικε τοῦ ὄντος Arist.EN1096a21, cf.Ph.1.330 (pl.).    2 in animals, branch of a vein, Hp.Oss.18 ; of certain appendages in the ἀστακός, Arist.
