Epict.4.8.16; ἔχειν π. wear the apron, of a cook, Hegesipp.Com.1.7 : hence οἱ λόγοι σου περιζώματος ὄζουσιν Plu.2.182d; ἀσκεῖν ἐκ περιζώματος practise an art with the apron on. i.e. merely with the outward appendage of an art, superficially, D.H.Din.1; of soldiers, underclothing, ἐν περιζώμασιν, opp. ἐν θώραξι, Plb.6.25.3.
