A a, ranged in rows or ranks, of ships on a narrow beach, Il.14.35; πρόκροσσαι ὅρμεον τὸ ἐς πόντον καὶ ἐπὶ ὀκτὼ νέας Hdt.7.188; πέριξ αὐτὸ (sc. τὸ χαλκήϊον) γρυπῶν κεφαλαὶ πρόκροσσοί εἰσι Id.4.152; συνδέσεις οὐ περιφερεῖς, ἀλλὰ πρόκροσσαι not round, but ranged in ranks, Democr. ap.
