   A rushing stream, mountain torrent, Th.4.96, Dsc.3.51, prob. in OGI335.111 (Pergam., ii B.C.).    2 esp. stream of lava from a volcano, ὁ ῥ. τοῦ πυρὸς ἐκ τῆς Αἴτνης Th.3.116, cf. Pl. Phd.111e, 113b, Arist.Mir.833a17, Thphr.Lap.22; ὁ καλούμενος ῥ. D.S.14.59.    3 metaph., ῥ. ἀργύρου γενέσθαι Id.5.35.    4 of dolphins, etc., ἔχει οἷον ῥ. δύο ἐξ ὧν τὸ γάλα ῥεῖ two flow-holes, Arist. HA504b24.
