A disorder, confusion, tumult, τύρβην παρέχειν τινί Hp. Fract.22; τὴν τύρβην ἐν ᾗ ζῶμεν Isoc.15.130, cf. X.Cyr.1.2.3, Plb. 1.67.3, etc. II metaph., ἡ ποιητικὴ τ. the poetic rout, Epicur. Fr.228; so of a Bacchic festival and its dance, Paus.2.24.6: hence, acc. to Suid., = ἀπόλαυσις, revelry. [Oxyt. in some codd. of Hp. l.c.; the form σύρβη is cited by Suid., Eust.871.60.] (Cf.
