   A hymn, ode, in praise of gods or heroes (καί τι ἦν εἶδος ῳδῆς εὐχαὶ πρὸς θεούς, ὄνομα δὲ ὕμνοι ἐπεκαλοῦντο Pl.Lg.700b; ὕμνους θεοῖς καὶ ἐγκώμια τοῖς ἀγαθοῖς Id.R.607a, cf.
