A peninsula, Hdt. 4.12, Th.6.97, Str.16.2.10, Plu.Pyrrh.6, etc. 2 island with a bridge to it, Paus.5.24.1. II as pr. n., of various peninsulas, esp. 1 the Chersonese, i.e. the peninsula of Thrace that runs along the Hellespont, Hdt.6.33. 2 the Tauric Chersonese or Crimea, Id.4.99, etc. 3 the peninsula between Epidaurus and Troezen, Th.4.42.
