X.An.7.2.21. 2 metaph., Ph.1.117:—Pass., τὸν δῆμον ἐγκεχαλινωμένον τῇ ὀλιγαρχία held in check by the oligarchy, Plu.Lys.21; ὀργή -ωμένη τῷ λόγῳ Them.Or.17.214d. 3 metaph. of reins, to be in the form of a bit, Hp.Oss.19.
