I a son of Belus, king of Phœnicia, father of Cadmus and Europa, and ancestor of Dido; hence, poet., Agenoris urbs, i. e. Carthage, Verg. A. 1, 338.—Agenore natus, i. e. Cadmus, Ov. M. 3, 51; 97; 257.—Whence, derivv.
