A Τυφῶ Id.Th.517, Supp.560 (lyr.), Ar. Nu.336 (anap.), acc. Τυφῶ Hdt.3.5, Ar.Eq.511 (anap.); also nom. Τῡφῶν (q. v.):—Typhoëus or Typhos, a hundred-headed giant buried by Zeus (εἰν Ἀρίμοις), Il.2.782; youngest son of Gaia and Tartarus, Hes. Th.821; Pi. gives his birthplace as Cilicia, but places him under Cyme and Sicily, and so accounts for the eruptions of Etna, l.c. [ῡ in disyll. cases, ῠ in the others, cf. Τυφῶν.]
