acc. to Hdn.Gr.2.22 an enclit. Conjunction (   A παραπληρωματικὸς σύνδεσμος Trypho in Kenyon Class. Texts p.116), εἴ ταρ, οὔ ταρ, to be read in place of εἴτ' ἄρ', οὔτ' ἄρ', as in Il.1.65,93; there is Ms. authority for ταρ in 1.8, 2.761; in 18.182 one of the editions of Aristarch. had ταρ, the other γαρ, and codd. are divided: Cobet conjectured ταρ for γαρ, Il.10.61 (where his cj. is now confirmed by two codd.), and in other places, Misc.Crit.315:—on the relation between αὖταρ, αὖ, and ταρ, v. A.D.Conj.254.2.
