A hold back, οὐδὲ κατίσχει [ἵππους] Il.23.321; τὰς νέας Hdt.2.115; θυμοῦ μένος ὀξὺ κατισχέμεν h.Hom. 8.14:—Med., keep by one, γυναῖκα νέην... ἥν τ' αὐτὸς . . κατίσχεαι Il. 2.233. II possess, occupy, οὐ ποίμνῃσιν καταΐσχεται Od.9.122, ἀράχνια κ. ὅλον τὸ σμῆνος cover it, Arist.HA626b18. III = κατέχω A. IV, ἐς πατρίδα γαιαν νῆα κατισχέμεναι Od.11.456, cf.
