   A ἐκόνῑσα Il. (v. infr.):—Med., Ph.2.173, fut. κονιοῦμαι v.l. in Ph. l. c. (as if from κονίζω, cf. Hsch. s.v. κονίζεσθαι): aor. ἐκονῑσάμην Ar.Ec.1177, Luc.Anach.31, etc.:—Pass., pf. κεκόνῑμαι Il.21.541, Hes.Op.481, Ar.Ec.291: plpf. κεκόνῑτο Il.22.405 (in Mss. sts. incorrectly ἐκόνισσα, κεκόνισμαι, κεκόνιστο, Il.21.407, Theoc.1.30, AP9.128):—make dusty, cover with clouds of dust, εὐρὺ κονίσουσιν πεδίον, of persons in hasty flight, Il.14.145.    2 cover with dust, ἐκόνισε δὲ χαίτας 21.407:—Pass., κεκονιμένοι φεῦγον all dusty fled they, ib.541; κεκόνιτο κάρη 22.405; κεκονιμένος all dusty, i.e. in haste, Ar.Ec.291, cf. 1177, Luc.DDeor.24.1, Tim.45, etc.    3 Pass., to be sprinkled as with dust, κισσὸς ἑλιχρύσῳ κεκονιμένος Theoc. 1.30.    4 Med., roll in the dust, like birds, horses, etc., Arist.HA 633b4, 557a12 (leg. κονίωνται), Polem.Hist.59; but, of wrestlers, sprinkle themselves with dust, Diocl.Fr.141, Gal.6.162, Luc.Anach. l.c.: hence, prepare for combat, Ph.l.c., Eust.1113.63; αὐτὸς ἐφ' ἑαυτοῦ κονισάμενος Max.Tyr.5.8.    II intr., κονίοντες πεδίοιο galloping o'er the dusty plain, in Il. always of horses, 13.820, 23.372, 449; of men racing, Od.8.122; of an advancing army, A.Th.60, cf.
