   A fasten with bolts or nails, esp. of ships, ἴκρια γομφώσαντες Nonn.D.40.447:—mostly in Pass., γεγόμφωται σκάφος the ship's hull is ready built, A.Supp.440, cf.Ar.Eq.463, AP11.248 (Bianor).    II metaph., curdle, γάλα λευκὸν ἐγόμφωσεν Emp.33.
