   A fan for raising the fire, Ar.Ach.669,888; ῥ. δ' ἐγείρει . . Ἡφαίστου κύνας, i.e. the slumbering flames, Eub.75.7; πτερίνα ῥ. AP 6.306 (Aristo).    II lady's fan, Stratt.56, AP6.290 (Diosc.), D.H.7.9.    III = ῥίψ, Crates Com.13.    IV ῥιπίρ (prob. Elean)· ῥιπίς, τὸ πλέγμα, ἢ ἐκ σχοίνου πέτασος. Ἀττικοὶ δὲ ῥιπίδα, ᾧ τὸ πῦρ καίουσι· καὶ τραπέζας οὕτω λέγουσι, Hsch.; Elean ῥιπίρ also in Inscr.Olymp.718, perh. = δίσκος, quoit, unless it is a pr. n.    V ῥιπίς· τοῦ σκέλους τὸ ἀκροκώλιον, Hsch. (VI, 290). – Auch = ῥίψ, Matte, geflochtene Decke, Hesych. lakonisch ῥιπίς, der auch ῥιπίς durch τοῦ σκέλους τὸ ἀκροκώλιον erklärt.
