[ῠ], ὁ, fabulous sea-bird, sts. identified with ἀλκυών, or the male of that species (cf. Antig. ap. Hsch.), Alcm.26.2, Archil.141 (cf. 49 D.), Arist.HA593b12, Clearch.73, Ael.NA5.48: κειρύλος, Ar. Av.300 (cf. Sch.ad loc., Hsch.), applied to the barber Sporgilos (from κείρω).
