   A basket of reed or cane, esp. bread-basket, καλοῖς ἐν κανέοισιν Il.9.217; περικαλλέος ἐκ κανέοιο Od.17.343, cf. Hdt.1.119, etc.; Χάλκειον κάνεον Il.11.630; Χρύσεια κάνεια Od.10.355; esp. used for the sacred barley at sacrifices, ἔχεν οὐλὰς ἐν κανέῳ 3.442; κανοῦν ἐνῆρκται E.El. 1142, cf. HF926, Aeschin.3.120, Men.Sam.7; τὸ κανοῦν ὀλὰς ἔχον Ar.Pax948, cf.
