English (LSJ)

(cf. Hdn. Gr.2.446) or ἀνά-σῑλος, ον,

A with hair brushed up on the forehead as the Parthians wore it, τῷ ἀνασίλλῳ κομᾶν Plu. Crass. 24; restored by Sylburg in Arist.Phgn.809b24, 812b35, cf. PGrenf.1.10.11 (iii B. C.).

German (Pape)

[Seite 207] od. ἀνάσιλος, ὁ, aufwärtsstehendes, struppiges Haupthaar; so scheint Arist. physiogn. 5, οἷον ἂν ἄσιλον (Bekk.), zu lesen, von dem Haarbüschel über der Stirn des Löwen, aber ibd. 6 hat Bekk. gewiß richtig οἱ τοῦ μετώπου τὸ πρὸς τῇ κεφαλῇ ἀναστεῖλον (A. ἀνάσιλλον) ἔχοντες, ἐλευθέριοι, S. das Vor. Bei Poll. 4, 137 heißt so eine Sklavenlarve aus der Komödie, von dem struppigen Haare so benannt, aber Bekk. hat die v. l. ἀνάσιμος aufgenommen.
