Pirithous, son of Ixīon (or Zeus) and Dia, king of the Lapithae, a friend of Theseus; at his wedding with Hippodamīa arose the quarrel between the Centaurs and the Lapithae, Il. 12.129, , Od. 21.298, Ξ 31, Il. 1.263.
