[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Ο τ. ῥεγ-εύς έχει σχηματιστεί από το θ. ῥεγ- του ῥέζω(ΙΙ) «βάφω» (< ῥέγ-) με επίθημα -εύς (πρβλ. παγεύς). Παράλληλα με τον τ. ῥεγεύς, μαρτυρούνται και οι τ.: ῥαγεύς (πρβλ. και λ. χρυσοραγές), ῥηγεύς (πρβλ. λ. ῥῆγος) και ῥογεύς (με φωνηεντισμό -ο-)].
