   A cutting or felling wood, πελέκεις Il.23.114; τέκτων LXXWi.13.11.    II Subst. ὑλοτόμος, ὁ, woodcutter, woodman, Il.23.123, Hes.Op.807, S.El.98 (anap.), IG12.1084.5, Thphr.HP3.9.3, Gal.17(2).229, etc.    III τὸ ὑλότομον either a plant cut in the wood (cf. τέμνω 111), used as a charm; or = worm (cf. φερέοικος), supposed to be the cause of pain in teething (οὐλοτόμοιο may be the right reading), h.Cer.229.
