ἕρμαξ: -ᾰκος, ἡ, (ἐκ τοῦ ἕρμα, πρβλ. λίθαξ), σωρὸς λίθων, συσσωρευόμενος περὶ τὸ παρὰ τὴν ὁδὸν ἄγαλμα τοῦ Ἑρμοῦ κατὰ παλαιὰν συνήθειαν, καθ’ ἣν ἕκαστος διαβάτης διερχόμενος ἔρριπτεν ἕνα λίθον εἰς τὸν σωρόν, Νικ. Θ.150 πρβλ. Ἑρμαῖος, Ἐρμεῖον. ΙΙ. Καθ’ Ἡσύχ. «ἕρμακες· αἱ ὕφαλοι πέτραι».
