A go about, be all round, γάστρην τρίποδος πῦρ ἄμφεπε Il.18.348, Od.8.437; πρύμνην πῦρ ἄμφεπε Il.16.124; ἔερσ' ἀμφέπει the dew (of milk and honey, metaph. of song) crowns [the bowl], Pi.N.3.78. 2 beset, press hard, Il.11.483; so perh. in Od.3.118 (v. infr. 11.2).
