   A without a sound, in silence, δὴν δ' ἄ. ἦσαν Il.9.30,695; τίπτ' ἄ. ἐγένεσθε; 2.323; οἱ δ' ἄ. ἐγένοντο 3.84, Od.7.144, 10.71; ἅπαντες ἧσθ' ἄ. 2.240.—In all the places cited it is joined with a pl. Verb, and is commonly written ἄνεῳ (as if nom. pl. from ἄνεως).
