[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Η λ. μαρτυρείται στον τ. της γεν. πληθ. της μτχ. ενεστ. λευκαθεόντων «με λαμπρό λευκό χρώμα» (Ησιόδ. Ασπ. 14β), ο οποίος σχηματίστηκε για μετρικούς λόγους στο τέλος στίχου αντί του τ. λευκαθόντων του αμάρτυρου λευκάθω (βλ. λευκαθίζω)].
