ἡ, (ἄφατος)

   A speechlessness, caused by fear or perplexity, ἔκπληξιν ἡμῖν ἀφασίαν τε προστιθεῖς E.Hel.549; ἀ. μ' ἔχει Id.IA837, cf. Ar. Th.904; ἀ. ἡμᾶς λαμβάνει τί ποτε χρὴ λέγειν Pl.Lg.636e; εἰς ἀ. τινὰ ἐμβάλλειν Id.Phlb.21d; εἰς ἀ. ἐμβάλλειν πράγματος inability to say anything about it, S.E.P.2.211, cf. Dam.Pr.7.
