English (LSJ)

κόνδυλοι, Hsch. βύτθαν· τὸν ψᾶρα, Id. (fort. ψῆνα). βυτθόν· πλῆθος, Id. βυτίνη, ἡ, = πυτίνη (Tarent.); also, = ἀμίς, Id. βύττος· γυναικὸς αἰδοῖον, Id.

Spanish (DGE)

κονδύλοι. οἱ δὲ βρύτανα Hdn.Gr.2.484, Hsch.

Frisk Etymological English

Grammatical information: n.pl.
Meaning: κονδύλοι (knuckle). οἱ δε βρύτανα H.
Origin: PG [a word of Pre-Greek origin]
Etymology: Formation in -ανον (Chantr. Form. 197ff., Schwyzer 489f.). Connected with βυτθόν πλῆθος H. and βύττος γυναικὸς αἰδοῖον H., for which I see no reason (except the superficial formal resemblance). - The variant with βρ- points to a Pre-Greek word; more examples Fur. 330.

Frisk Etymology German

βύτανα: {bútana}
