Hdt.6.32; δείν' ἐ. ἔπη S.Aj.312, etc.    2 c. dat. only, threaten, ἐπαπειλήσας Ἑλένῳ Il.13.582.    3 c. fut. inf., threaten to do, Hdt.1.189, S.El. 779, Ar.Av.630: but the inf. is freq. omitted, ὥς ποτ' ἐπηπείλησεν as he threatened, Il.14.45, cf.
