of Hebrew origin (עֻזִּיָּה); Ozias (i.e. Uzzijah), an Israelite: Ozias.

(L T Tr WH Ὀζείας (cf. Tdf. Proleg., p. 84; WH s Appendix, p. 155, and see εἰ, ἰ)), Οζιου (but cf. Buttmann, 18 (16)), ὁ, (עֻזִּיָה and עֻזִּיָהוּ, strength of Jehovah, or my strength is Jehovah), Ozias or Uzziah, son of Amaziah, king of Judah (circa) 811-759 B.C.> (Ιωραμ, Οχοζιας, Ιωας, Ἀμαζιας, Ὀζίας. He seems therefore to have confounded Οχοζιας and Ὀζίας; see another example of (apparent) confusion under Ιεχονιας. (But Matthew has simply omitted three links; such omissions were not uncommon, cf. e. g. Ezra 7:1 ff See the commentators.)
