   A boil imperfectly, parboil, scald, simmer, πάσχει ὅπερ ἐν τοῖς ἑψομένοις τὰ μωλυνόμενα Arist.GA776a1 (μολυν- codd.); σκληρότερα μὲν τὰ μεμωλυσμένα γίγνεται τῶν ἑφθῶν Id.Mete.381a21 (v.l. μεμολ-); of a herb, μωλυθεῖσα πυρὶ σμαλερῷ Poet.deherb.101, cf. 138; of half-roasted meat, [κρέα] πρὸς ὀλίγον τῷ πυρὶ μεμωλυσμένα Hld.2.19 (μεμολ- codd.).    II of ulcers, 'go off the boil', fail to come to a head, subside, fade away, σκληρὰ καὶ ἄπεπτα πάντα ἐμωλύνθη Hp.
