   A cock, ἕως ἐβόησεν ἀ. Batr.192, cf. Pi.O.12.14, Simon.80 B, A.Ag.1671, Eu.861, Herod.4.12, etc.; later Prose, Arist.Fr.347, PTeb.140 (i B. C.)LXX Pr.24.66 (30.31), Ev.Matt.26.34,al., IG3.77: metaph., of a trumpeter, κοινὸς Ἀθηναίων ἀ.
