   A = ἑρμάζω, support by means of a sling, τῆς κνήμης ἡρματισμένης Hp.Fract.23.    II (ἕρμα 1.4) steady as by ballast, ἑ. ἑαυτοὺς λιθιδίοις Plu.2.967b:—Med., ballast themselves, λιθιδίοις ib.979b : —Pass., τοῖς ἀξιολόγοις ἀγαθοῖς ἡρματίσθαι Phld.Mort.18.    2 trans. in Med., νύμφας ἐς οἴκους ἑρματίζονται they take brides into their houses as ballast, E.Fr.402.8, cf. Lyc.1319.
