[Seite 948] ακος, ὁ, der das Maul im Sprechen vollnimmt, bes. Wörter braucht, die den Mund füllen, wie Aeschylus bei Ar. Nubb. 1349 heißt. wegen seiner langen Wortzusammensetzungen; der Schol. zu dieser Stelle u. zu Vesp. 721 betrachtet das Wort als zusammengesetzt aus στόμα u. ὄμφαξ, u. erkl. σκληρός, τραχύς, s. aber στόμφος.
