Έγ', ὦ ταλαίπωρ', αὐτὸς ὧν χρείᾳ πάρει. Τὰ πολλὰ γάρ τοι ῥήματ' ἢ τέρψαντά τι, ἢ δυσχεράναντ', ἢ κατοικτίσαντά πως, παρέσχε φωνὴν τοῖς ἀφωνήτοις τινά –> Wretched brother, tell him what you need. A multitude of words can be pleasurable, burdensome, or they can arouse pity somehow — they give a kind of voice to the voiceless.

   A sound of mind, sensible, οὔτε μάλ' ἀ. Od.24.261, cf. E.Med.294; ἀρτιμελεῖς καὶ ἀρτίφρονας Pl. R.536b; ἀ. . . πλήν . . quite in one's senses except... E.IA877: c. gen., ἐπεὶ δ' ἀ. ἐγένετο . . γάμων when he came to full consciousness of... A.Th.778 (lyr.).
