depart: P. and V. ἀπέρχεσθαι, ἀποχωρεῖν, P. ἀποκομίζεσθαι, V. μεθίστασθαι, ἀφέρπειν; see depart.
retire from (a task, office, etc.): P. and V. ἀφίστασθαι (gen.); see resign.
when you made Iphicrites retire from the command: P. ἐπειδὴ τὸν Ἰφικράτην ἀποστράτηγον ἐποιήσατε (Dem. 669).
