Etymology : Im letzteren Sinn nach Specht KZ 59, 120f. zum hom. Ipf. αὖε rief. Specht zieht ferner heran ἀβήρει· ᾄδει und ἀβέσσει· ἐπιποθεῖ, θορυβεῖ H., außerdem noch ἀβώρ (ἄβωρ cod.) im Sinn von βοή. Sehr hypothetisch. Vgl. αὐδή, ἀείδω.
