Hist. 89; sg., farm, Od.24.205; also in pl., X.HG2.4.1:—tilled land, opp. fallow, ἀγρὸς καὶ ἀργός, Ἀθηνᾶ 20.167 (Erythrae).    2 country, opp. town, Od.17.182, E.Supp.884, etc.; ἀγρὸν τὰν πόλιν ποιεῖς Epich.169; ἀγρῷ in the country, Od.11.188; ἐπ' ἀγροῦ in the country, 1.190, 22.47; ἐπ' ἀγρὸῦ νόσφι πόληος 1.185; in pl., κατὰ πτόλιν ἠὲ κατ' ἀγρούς 17.18; ἐν οἴκοις ἢ 'ν ἀγροῖς S.
