Blot out: P. and V. ἐξαλείφειν, ἀφανίζειν, καθαιρεῖν. Remove from oneself: P. ἀποτρίβεσθαι, ἀπολύεσθαι. Undo: P. and V. λύειν. I could not efface your sad plight from my mind: V. τὸ σὸν . . . πάθος οὐκ ἂν δυναίμην ἐξαλείψασθαι φρενός (Eur., Hec. 589).
