Am.23; μέγα κατά τινος Theoc. l. c.; jeer, mock, ἁπάντων καγχαζόντων γλώσσαις S.Aj.l.c. (Prob. onomatopoeic, by dissim. fr. χὰ χά 'ha! ha!')

[Seite 1409] (χάω, χαίνω), fut. dor. καχαξῶ, Theocr. 5, 142, laut lachen, ἀθρόως γελᾶν, VLL. Diese Form ist durch das Metrum geboten Ar. Eccl. 849 Anacr. 31, 29; kann auch Soph. Ai. 198 (hohnlachen) stehen. Erst Sp., wie Luc. amor. 23 (ἐπί τινι) D. meretr. 6, 3 Ath. X, 438 f Poll. 6, 199 haben καγχάζω. Vgl. kichern, cachinnari.
