Ἰστρι-ηνός, ή, όν, of or from Istria, Hdt.4.78, St.Byz., etc.; Ἰστριανὰ πρόσωπα tattooed masks, like the faces of Scythian slaves, Ar.Fr.88; Ἰστριαναὶ ζειραί Scythian tunics, prob. for ἰσπνιᾶται σειραί (glossed ἰστρηνίδες), Theognost. Can.14; ἰστριανά, τά, covers for the baskets carried by κανηφόροι, Poll.10.191:—fem. Ἰστριᾱνίδες, of these garments and covers, Hsch.; but also Ἰστριανίδων ὕφη S.Fr.210.67.
